Wall Street Journal Op-Ed: Rush Limbaugh

Appearing in the Wall Street Journal today is an Op-Ed written by Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh offers fact and opinion in a concise piece aimed at bringing the facts to the forefront, while shedding light on the behavior of those who have called him racist or questioned his moral qualifications to be part owner of an NFL franchise.

"[...] It didn't take long before my name was selectively leaked to the media as part of the Checketts investment group. Shortly thereafter, the media elicited comments from the likes of Al Sharpton. In 1998 Mr. Sharpton was found guilty of defamation and ordered to pay $65,000 for falsely accusing a New York prosecutor of rape in the 1987 Tawana Brawley case. He also played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews "diamond merchants") and 1995 Freddie's Fashion Mart riot.

"Not to be outdone, Jesse Jackson, whose history includes anti-Semitic speech (in 1984 he referred to Jews as "Hymies" and to New York City as "Hymietown" in a Washington Post interview) chimed in. He found me unfit to be associated with the NFL. I was too divisive and worse. I was accused of once supporting slavery and having praised Martin Luther King Jr.'s murderer, James Earl Ray."

Soloman, The libs are balls to the wall. They will say virtually anything including and Especially bold faced lies.

Obama has been doing it for 2 years now. And they notice their support groups don't even notice. Frankly, most of them don't have the intelligence to notice. So why would they consider doing anything else.

We have libs at work who ask me questions that illustrate clearly they have No idea about anything. They have been in school 12 years and they are blank slates.

You can tell them anything and the Dem do so with wild abandon.

Hi Soloman. This was a great post, I'm glad you put it up for us to read. I'm sick of all these liars. There must be a gene in all dems and nuts that predispose them to lie. I get it all the time, as well.
Well, Rush will find something better to do, like sue all of them for defamation. He had very good examples. Talk about those "preachers" calling the kettle black...hee hee. Hope your weekend is good so far.

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. Don’t we all feel better?

Kid - it certainly is amazing how 'racism' has become an industry, and the libs will all fall in lockstep and cry the word, or as you say do just about anything, upon being given marching orders by any of their master race-baiters.

Bunni - just chillin' right now, watching the NASCAR race and keeping up with the emails and comments. Hope you're having fun :)

Rush may have a defamation or libel case, based on the fact that major media (CNN, NBC, ESPN) ran with false comments that were made up by some guy who can't source the info. I'm no lawyer, so I'm not sure, and the lawyers I've heard discuss it thus far are split, so it's hard to say.

Really what he can do best, and will do regardless, is to continue to expose Sharpton and Jackson for the frauds that they are. Hopefully he'll name names at the media outlets as well, so they can be shown for the slackers that they are.

Those who ran with the un-sourced comments should be forced to give on-air apologies, at the very least - but you know that ain't happening.

Soloman. That is potentially an outlet for common sense.
J Jackson condeming the Duke University men before practically any information is out.

Murtha with the Haditha Marines and everyone cleared.

I'd love to see some lawsuits to clarify things.
Rush, Sue the bastards!

PS - J Kerry Never disputed any of the statements of the Swift Boaters...

Paul, your babbling says wonders about your character.

You clearly don't listen to Rush's show, so let's get that out of the way.

He is blaming nobody. He is telling the truth about all those who falsely cried "racist," including the real racists, Sharpton, Jackson, and NFL players' union executive DeMaurice Smith, who worked for the Obama transition team and was counsel to Eric Holder while he was Deputy Atty. General.

Limbaugh is more of a man of integrity than you could ever hope to be in ten lifetimes. Time and time again Rush states that he wishes for a colorblind world in which all persons were seen as equals, and given equal opportunity.

Yet somehow you libs gloss right over the facts, like the fact that there are other owners in the NFL (Serena Williams, J-Lo, and soon to be Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas) who have used the n-word, acted in unseemly ways, and so on - yet they are considered acceptable by the NFL standards?

The truth is, we live in a world right now in which racism is a joke of a claim, because the liberal class of America abuses the word so much that it has lost its meaning - and the real race issue we have today is not racism, but race-baiting as an industry, with Barack Obama the CEO of the company.

Have a nice life.

Why should ANYONE care who owns an NFL franchise (or a portion of one)? Why should anyone cares who owns stock in any particular company absent insider trading or something illegal?

Rush is paid well, and he should have the right to buy whatever he wants to. The Liberal claptrap that a conservative shouldn't own a football franchise is absurd.

Barack Hussein Obama is clearly a racist and yet he was elected president. Should we impeach him because he's a racist? ....bad example.

Thanks for posting the article. Rush is a class act and it's too bad the NFL is playing politics and caving to the likes of race-baiting hustlers like Sharpton and Jackson.
That troll, Paul, definitely does not listen to Rush's show.

Off topic...
Congrats on Jimmy winning AGAIN. He's first in points now and, who knows, maybe another championship.

Kid - you're right.. Kerry just whined, and tried to blame everyone else for his woes.

If Limbaugh can sue, I say full speed ahead. However, he ultimately has and will continue to win in the battlefield of truth and facts, which may not be as glamorous but certainly has more integrity.

Soloman said...

LL - I understand to a point, as I'm sure you do too, that the NFL is a private entity, and therefore has the right to include or exclude as they see fit.

Of course, that is not really the case anymore, as we know country clubs were at some time forced to 'include' - which was the right thing to do, because discrimination is wrong.

What Limbaugh says on his radio show has no bearing on how freely he will drop his millions on a star athlete, though... and any player who claims he would never play for Limbaugh had better check himself as he makes such a statement.

TCL - all I can say is - WOO HOO!!!!

What a race between Jimmie and Jeff for the lead. Can't wait 'till next week.. Martinsville is always a great track for those two as well, with a couple of incredible side-by-side finishes between the 24 and 48 there recently.

I'm completing my NASCAR post and will have it up shortly.

Hey - on the bright side for you... Tony is holding strong in 4th, and one slip by the guys in front of him, or a wreck at Talledega.. whole new ballgame.

It ain't over yet.

Soloman said...

BTW TCL - please excuse my excitement over the race.. but I am proud, I've had two trolls today! I've been posting somewhere and getting their attention. What fun!

And actually, it's not the NFL at all - it's Dave Checketts, the guy who asked Rush to be an investor to begin with! So there's the real story.. Checketts asked Rush to step aside, and Rush said no way, you've got to 'fire' me, and here we are today.

Technically, the NFL has done nothing wrong, unless there were conversations between Checketts and the NFL that we do not yet know about.

The only way we'll probably ever hear about such conversations is if Checketts does not end up winning the bid to own the Rams, in which case he might or might not go public with such information.

The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism (one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well the team works together and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last two days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so quit your whining.

Paul,

the last time you commented here, you were accusing Limbaugh of blaming everyone else for the fact that he would not be an NFL owner, and I clearly proved you incorrect. Now you want to debate the differences between a man who is clearly an American patriot and an inspiration to many versus a dog killer, and again you end your comment with a statement accusing me of whining.

Go back to your latte and your Rachel Maddow show, you little pompous bitch, and don't bother coming back.

Not only are you incorrect in everything you say but you are disrespectful, and I won't have that crap here.

I don't think Rush Limbaugh is a racist because he writes following a style that practically everyone can read and understand. he is very polite
