Here On Obama's Island: The Professor Debate

As One Ticked Chick at Coffee Milk Conservative points out in a great post, It seems the new "Politically Correct Word of the Week" is "Professor."

No, this current discussion is not about the guy on the island with Ginger and Mary Ann, but rather the self-proclaimed professor, President Barack Hussein Obama.

It seems that some, including Harvard... professor... and longtime Obama pal Charles Ogletree wish to defend the president, most specifically from Sarah Palin's recent use of Obama's own description of himself as a "Constitutional Law Professor."

"I was a constitutional law professor, which means unlike the current president I actually respect the Constitution," Obama said during a fundraiser at a March 30, 2007 fundraiser.

Interestingly enough, in April 2009 Power Line blog reported that the Obama administration had already begun backpedaling from Obama's grandiose self-imagery. It seems that during an exchange from a press conference, Helen Thomas asked Robert Gibbs;

"Why is the president blocking habeas corpus from prisoners at Bagram? I thought he taught constitutional law. And these prisoners have been there..."

To which Gibbs replied;

"You're incorrect that he taught on constitutional law."

Now it seems that even Obama's Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton might appreciate some clarification, because as the left-leaning Democraticunderground.com pointed out in March of 2008, the Clinton campaign also questioned Obama's "professor" status in her press release titled "Just Embellished Words: Senator Obama’s Record of Exaggerations & Misstatements."

It seems even Obama's own educators might be a bit confused, if not wholly racist, as they point out in a statement on the subject:

The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer."

From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School's Senior Lecturers has high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined.

Finally, it seems the BBC might be racist, as in January 2009 they produced and aired a podcast titled "Obama: Professor President."

I don't think the Chosen One has ever been in the same room as the Constitution.

Now if he said he was a professor of The Communist Manifesto, I'd believe that.

FYI, the reason you got the "MOtion Denied" page on the link to the UChicago Law site is because you left a quotation mark at the end:

http://www.law.uchicago.edu/media/index.html"

Try http://www.law.uchicago.edu/media/index.html and you'll see the statement in question.

Wow, great investigative work, Solomon.
o blah blah is no more a professor than I am.

Most professors are PROUD to have their work published! Obummer HIDES everything written, or anything he might have written, including all his TRANSCRIPTS! Some professor, pro of flim flam, maybe.

Wow, I'm with Bunni, you pulled out all the stops on this one. I just shrugged it off, but I'm glad as hell you didn't!

All -

I would like to thank anonymous for the catch on the link. I did indeed miss the quotation mark at the end.

I've edited the post based on this correction, and I believe it adds even more clarification to the fact that- quite simply - we are all racists now.
