Alright... it's Saturday morning as I'm posting this, and on the east coast some of you may already be up and getting your Saturday rolling.
Still, it's Friday night because I'm not sleeping yet (although I hope to be in about 20 minutes!) and I thought I'd post a little song about this great land of ours.
Back in 1983 - during the era of Ronald Reagan - imagine that - John (Cougar) Mellencamp wrote this classic that told the tale of "The Simple Man" from EveryTown, USA.
One of my favorites to play, and I still love to hear it come on the radio all these years later. Takes me back to an easier time...
Ain't that America, Home Of The Free...
Little Pink Houses. Enjoy.

What a wonderful patriotic song/video! I had never seen the video to this song before. Thanks for posting, Sol.
I've always liked this song, too...but now I wonder what his politics are! Might change my opinion of the song somehow!
Which America "that" is might surprise us!?
The same Democrats Mellancamp supports is forcing many to become simple people.
Billy Long is wrong: Find

answer for Missouri's Seventh Congressional District.
Just a quick follow-up thought, since a couple of you brought up his politics...
I can't get inside his head, but I'd bet that if he really paid attention to politics he'd never support the far leftists that we really know Obama and his ilk to be.
I know he was a big Clinton guy back then, but that would be almost understandable for a midwestern farm boy who was young and rebellious.
Hell, that was me twenty years ago...
I believe in his heart he really loves America as we love America. Liberals of twenty years ago.. even ten years ago... were a different breed from these radicals we are fighting today.
