Chris Matthews Forgets Obama is Black

My doctor is so polite and well educated. He never misses a diagnosis. Last time I went to see him my appointment took a long time. As he was doing his work we got to talking, and as we had our discussion I forgot he was Black for about an hour.

The mechanic who worked on my car last time it was in the shop, his name is Larry. He's lived a tough life, but he's making the best of it. I'm so impressed by his determination to succeed that while I was talking to him the other day, I forgot he was Black for about an hour.

The people that owns the sub shoppe I love, they're such a nice family. They have a great little restaurant, they're very polite, their children are well behaved, and they always remember my name and my favorite sandwich. Last time I was there, they asked me to join them for dinner. I enjoyed myself so much while I was dining with them, I forgot they were Black for about an hour.

I'm speaking hypothetically, as you may by now understand.

Since we know the mainstream media will not discuss this honestly (if at all) and I know it's likely you don't watch MSNBC, please allow me to offer an explanation as to why I'm making such racist statements.

In case you haven't heard about it by now on talk radio or Fox News, Chris Matthews said the following last night during MSNBC's post-speech discussion:

"I was trying to think of who he was tonight... and, uh.. It's interesting, he is post racial, by all appearances.. you know, I forgot he was Black tonight for an hour.. you know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country, and past so much history in just a year or two. I mean it's something we don't even think about. I was watching, I said "Wait a minute, he's an African-American guy, in front of a bunch of other White people, and there he is, President of The United States, and we've completely forgotten that tonight."

Here's the clip:

Matthews tried to clarify his statement later in a discussion with Rachel Maddow:

There is no way to take this statement other than as purely racist.

Had Rush Limbaugh or a Fox News Channel host said such a thing, Matthews, Olbermann, and Maddow, in addition to many others would have had a field day. Huffington Post would have had six articles regarding said person, and Van Jones' organization "Color of Change" would have called for his immediate firing.

The beautiful thing is that Chris Matthews has proven to all of America exactly who he is, and it ain't pretty.

The left will attempt to justify this statement, by claiming that he's "the type of person who wants so badly to overcome racial differences, and that's the way he expressed himself off the cuff." This is in a roundabout way what Matthews said, in his "explanation," and also how leftists will try to defend him. I know the latter to be true because driving home from work today I heard a caller on Sean Hannity's show say almost exactly that in an effort to defend Matthews.

There is no defense for what Chris Matthews said last night.

However, I also believe that there is no reason to be upset with Matthews. I actually am grateful that Chris Matthews has a platform. With statements like this he exemplifies exactly what the double standard is in political correctness and the use of the "race card" by the leftists in America today.

I forgot about the color of Barack Obama's skin after.. oh, I don't know... I'd say the Iowa Caucus, perhaps. Honestly, it was a thought in passing at a monumental moment in our history as he gave his acceptance speech on November 4, 2008 and again as he was inaugurated on January 20, 2009.

The only other time the color of The President's skin becomes an issue in my mind is when the left makes an issue of it. Any time Keith Olbermann accuses fellow Conservatives of being "Teabaggers" and resisting "change" because a "Black man" is President, I remember his skin color.

Janine Garofalo reminded me he is Black, for the same reason.

Joy Behar... same thing. The beat goes on.

Occasionally when President Obama speaks to certain crowds, I almost can't help but be reminded, because he chances his cadence and develops a bit of an accent - almost southern, like a Baptist minister. Of course, Hillary and Bill Clinton have the ability to suddenly be afflicted with Southern Baptist accents, and I know they are not Black. However, that's not the issue.

The bottom line is this: I see Barack Hussein Obama as the President of my homeland, The United States of America. I do not see him as our "Black President" or as our "post-racial President," I simply see him as President.

I may sometimes offer commentary here that comes across as snide or sarcastic, but I honestly hope that he is able to guide our nation in the proper direction. I don't give a damn what color his skin is. All I care about is that he does the right thing for our nation, represents us well overseas, and stays safe, because he is our President, and he is fellow man.

Keep it up, Chris. You're an amazing source of education for America.

Great post. Very insightful, and I think that you are right about the left and race. I imagine that Matthews WAS dumbfounded that he didn't have his usual silent chorus of "he's black, he's black, he's black" running through his head.

I think that says a lot about Matthews, too.

And I don't think it's a stretch to say that libs must have the same silent chant in their heads all the time. It's always the left who drag up race, it's always the left who screech RAAAAACIST!!! Though I think that we, on the right, have been drug into that crap far too often of late, to be honest. The left won't let race go, they hang on to it, use it to drive wedges between people in this country . . . and they do so successfully.

I'm sure Matthews will have his racist chant back in place in no time. Bummer. But it does explain why they all think everything is about race . . . it's always scrolling through their minds.

Like you, I never think of BO as black, isn't that odd? Here we are, two conservatives who don't see him as anything but a damn crappy and highly dangerous radical progressive. Oh, and he's president, too.

Thanks, Fuzzy. I enjoyed writing this one.

I thought the funniest thing was when I did a Google search for the picture.. I forget exactly what I searched, but the picture was the second one.

If you didn't catch it, the pic is from "The Chris Matthews Show" which airs on NBC broadcast, and it shows polling that says Obama will not be defined by race.

SO even back before the election, Matthews was obsessed with defining Obama by race.

Love your last sentence in this comment... : )

Okay, so you two never think about someone's race (how morally superior). The left thinks about it all the time. And you never admit the right produces neoNazis...I'm sure if you just ignore them it will go away. Meg Whitman (R running for governor in CA) to her credit, just dumped a Councilman supporter for saying he was a "proud racist." He says he was taken out of context...maybe you can defend that. Maybe we can just keep pointing out how racist each side of the political aisle is...

"The left thinks about it all the time" is all you need to say.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Conservative. His dream, if you'll remember, is that we all see others based upon the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

Have a nice day.
