Rules For Radicals?

Glenn Thrush at Politico is reporting on a set of rules being enforced by Democrats, most specifically due to the recent racist outburst by Joe Wilson (R-SC) in which he falsely proclaimed "You Lie" to the President, Lord Barry the Most Merciful, during the Messianic Health Care Informational Seminar, given last Wednesday in The House Chamber.

Under section 370 of the House Rules and Manual it has been held that a Member could:

• refer to the government as “something hated, something oppressive.”
• refer to the President as “using legislative or judicial pork.”
• refer to a Presidential message as a “disgrace to the country.”
• refer to unnamed officials as “our half-baked nitwits handling foreign affairs.”

Likewise, it has been held that a member could not:

• call the President a “liar.”
• call the President a “hypocrite.”
• describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.”
• charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.”
• refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
• refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.”

Notice how conveniently the rules allowed seem to fit terms and words used towards George W. Bush. Meanwhile, any terms not allowed seem to fall in line with terms which might be considered fitting of Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.

Fine: pResident Barack Obama is something hated, something oppressive, and runs a bunch of thugs who are pass themselves off as our half-baked nitwits handling foreign affairs, using legislative or judicial pork to become a disgrace to the country.

Sounds pretty friggin' damning to me.

Dr. Dave - I couldn't have turned it back on them better than that, good sir! Well said.

Once Again, Obummer & co. prove they can't handle truthful talk.

Bunni - not to mention the infringement on free speech - right smack dab in the central agency of the people's representation?

There's a level of decorum with which I would take issue regarding Joe Wilson's comment. However - he apologized, and Obama accepted and said let's move the discussion forward.

On this one, I agree with Obama. This is political posturing, nothing more, nothing less.

like you, i wonder how long these rules have been in place. if i were wilson, i'd ask them to send me the letter or whatever saying i was bad and how mad they are at me. then i'd frame it and hang it i my office. better yet, get them to present it to me on the house floor, photograph the event, have nancy autograph it, then auction them off to raise money for my re-election bid.

Great idea. You ought to email him and suggest he try to get something like that done!
