A Glimpse Into Liberal Lunacy

When I started writing here (seems so long ago, March 18th, 2009) one of the things I wrote about was my experiences as a commenter on the partisan website Huffington Post.

I find spending time on an interactive liberal website such as HP productive from time to time. I believe it not only keeps me informed to the ideas being discussed by the political opposition to most of what I believe, but it also strengthens my knowledge and wit.

There are many crafty commenters on Huff Post's chat threads, many of whom must either be paid operatives or have completely irresponsible lives, because it seems no matter what time of what day some of them will be logged on and commenting.

Regardless of Arianna Huffington's payment or non-payment of commenters, I always find it amazing how the majority of liberal commenters use emotion as a tool for persuasion in their effort to debate a point. This is the primary distinction I find between personality types from liberal to Conservative; liberals function in a realm of emotion and the desire to please all, Conservatives function within the confines of law and structure as provided within law.

That being said, this weekend liberals all a-flutter with Glenn Beck and Van Jones articles, and of course the accompanying comments for said articles.

Here is a synopsis of some of the most interesting commentary from Huffington Post:

iceage7 said: "Smart, intelligent, knowledgable, inspirational...Jones will be the next Martin Luther King for a Green movement."

{Yes, I see a national Van Jones Holiday in our near future. Sure.}

Pupadup4oBama said: "I have to say, he is a VERY handsome man....like a young Denzel. I believe he will go places... :)"

{Yep. Really said it. Not to take away from Jones, but they mock Sarah Palin for her appearance. Perpetual double-standard, fo sho.}

In an interesting discussion, staytotheright said: "Actually, Van Jones is a self proclaimed Communist."

To which collima replied: "Is that supposed to be a bad thing? If so, why? That sounds almost as bad as saying, "Obama is a muslim" Both statements seem extraordinarily ignorant IMO... Which explains why so many republicans are comfortable using these statements quite effortlessly."

{Really. Click the name, it's a link. You can't make this stuff up. These comments really came from someone who seems to believe they are informed about politics}

And the always astute jerrygarcia1 added: "I say people start keeping a good track of who Beck has on his show and use the same standard of guilt by association to get his show cancelled. He has plenty of closet racists and homophobes on his show every week. That should bring talk radio down a notch."

{Nothing like comparing being the host of a radio show to President of The United States. }

However, one of the most interesting things said actually does not come from a "regular" citizen, but instead from a rather prominent media personality. ESPN Sports analyst turned (failed) political pundit Keith Olbermann wrote on The Daily Kos:

"Find everything you can about Glenn Beck, Stu Burguiere, and Roger Ailes.

[...] Tuesday we will expand this to the television audience and have a dedicated email address to accept leads, tips, contacts, on Beck, his radio producer Burguiere, and the chief of his tv enablers, Ailes.

[...]
This becomes necessary after this in order to prove various cliches about goose and gander, and to remind everybody to walk softly and carry a big popsicle, and most particularly to save this nation from the Oligarhy of The Stupid.

I keep wondering if somewhere somebody named Ollie Garhey thinks he's in charge now. Or, even more entertainingly and societally satisfying, if somebody named Ali Garhi does.

Despite the worn-out snark above, I am in earnest here."

Needless to say, it's going to be a very interesting week...

Hi, Wise Man--
Have you seen the petition at America's Right to move Glenn Beck to prime time? If not, (for those who want the link), it's at www.americasright.com, or click HERE.

Thank you!

Solomon, I just wanted you to know how much I like your site. I get a comfortable feeling when I'm here.

Got to thinking about Glenn Beck and Obama/Soetoro's "czars." I get the feeling that he's going after them like Pac Man -- chomp-chomp-chomp! One by one!

Today (Tuesday, Sept. 8) is the day that Orly Taitz's lawsuit is supposed to be heard. I saw where US AG Eric Holder requested that the judge dismiss it. We'll see, I guess. (I'm praying that our Constitution will FINALLY be upheld!)

Night, all--

Gail - yes, I saw the petition, if I recall my comment over there was what led you to find my page. I don't think he needs to be moved to prime time. He will be effective no matter what time he airs on radio or TV.

Glad you like what you see here. I do what I can to be informative, based in fact, and hopefully entertaining as well.

I'll watch the news regarding the lawsuit, but as I mentioned once before, I do not concern myself with the birth certificate issue, as I believe we have bigger fish to fry. Should that prove to be more of an issue of substance, I'll take more interest.

Right now I'm focused on issues which ALL Americans can possibly identify with, and the birth certificate issue will instantly turn away people who otherwise might find good information here.

Steve: To quote a great man: Hey lefties:"You're stuck on stupid!"

Thought you'd enjoy a little Honore on a Tuesday morning! :-D

Soloman: Some of the funniest and most stupid things ever said can be found in the comments section of any lefty blog. Great work here!

"Nothing like comparing being the host of a radio show to President of The United States." - seriously my own thought everytime I hear someone say Beck's background needs to be delved into.

Reading lefty comments really can be entertaining. And then other times I just shake my head and wonder when the common sense left them.

Great post! I read liberal sites, too, and often learn things, but have also found this Van Jones thing has brought out some emotional lunacy. I've actually seen people ask why being a Marxist/communist is such a bad idea. (!!!!!!) I guess, force, the removal of freedom, and the murder of 110 million people last century is not a big deal?

How can you go to HuffPo without your head exploding every few minutes? You have an admirable tolerance.

I have (so far) resisted the urge to go there (Huffington Post), although I agree with you we should keep up with what's going on in their little pea brains.

I did some time on Daily Kos and was amazed at the amount of truly horrible language in the comments.

Great post. You have a lot of courage to hang out at HuffPo. Actually it's not a bad way to spy on the left. And they post the text of Obama's speeches sooner than just about anybody else.

Of course they don't see anything wrong with the president and his advisors being Marxists. They were all probably educated in our public schools, which teach a decidedly left-wing curriculum.

Soloman, I'm quoting you as above in my email signature. What sort of credit do you want?

Steve - what scared me the most is the one who seemed to think being a Communist is like being a Muslim.

I'd give every Muslim I ever met a chance to prove their character, just like anyone else in life. A Commie, however... I already know their character.

Opie - it is great fun as an outsider looking in. I actually go in an comment, sometimes with the intent to provoke. Those are the really fun days.

A couple of days ago I had some of them so fired up all they could do was throw vile insults. It was in a "fully moderated" thread, which I came to learn means that if I call them out on their crudeness and the moderator catches it, they'll "scrub" the posts. They're getting a rep on the left and it ain't pretty.

Next time - screen shots.

Hey B & G - you're the second one this week - what's with you ladies and the picture changes?

Regardless... good luck to your Steelers this year. I can't stand 'em personally, but my 6 year old niece is a big fan so I have to be kinda cool with them. Plus my Broncos are gonna have it tough for a year or two...

Tammy - I think that message got back to Olbermann, about digging dirt on Beck and how ridiculous it would be. I just put up video showing Olbermann's childish attempt to diminish Beck.

And I don't think they ever got common sense. They buy their 'smarts' in a book and act like it's gold.

Fool's gold, more like it...

Hey sonicninjakitty - that's a lotta name! Thanks for dropping by and commenting!

That "communist ain't so bad" thing is exactly what I read in the words in the one comment from my post. As compared to being a Muslim... ain't nothing wrong with almost all the Muslims out there. Commies, though...

Hey Red - thanks for stopping by - and yes, I suppose I have quite the tolerance.

I'm a converted lib to some extent - that might explain some of it. I think I', a little more patient, having been that naive at one point in life...

Adrienne - HuffPo is nothing if you've been by Kos. Kos is unadulterated filth. HuffPo at least tries to keep it civil, which is why that's my lefty forum of choice.

It's kinda like an amusement park... everybody's got their favorite ride...

Thanks for coming by!

Hey RK - I actually flip back and forth from Drudge to HP sometimes, to see who breaks news first. Usually Drudge is quicker.. I attribute that to HP's extensive layout. And spying on them is fun...

TC - for the under 30 crowd, I definitely agree. I was lucky, I went to public schools but in one of the best districts in Ohio. I know I still got taught a different version of history than what I now know is true and complete. That's a lot of it is the depth of information, but there's a lot of fact-twisting too...

Soloman said...

Gail - no credit needed. Someday they'll be teaching about me in schools across the land.. lol...

Gail B said...

Soloman, "I'll git it!" But not until I have cleared out some emails. Have 2,000 left, with over 1,000 unread; and that's with 535 in the deleted. Just doesn't pay to be gone for a couple of days!

Thanks-
