According to this article from The Washington Times, Vice-President Biden is somehow able to get away with charging rent of The Secret Service, who are entrusted with the responsibility of keeping him safe.
From the article:
Since April, Mr. Biden has collected more than $13,000 from the agency charged with protecting the lives of he and his family, for use of a rental cottage adjacent to the waterfront home he owns in a Wilmington, Del., neighborhood.
Mr. Biden, listed not as vice president in federal purchasing documents but as “vendor,” is eligible for up to $66,000 by the time the government contract expires in the fall of 2013, the records show.
So we pay them, and they pay him, and we pay him...

unethical doesn't even scratch the surface. the amount he gets paid by the secret service should be factored in, in relationship to how much security he receives. i.e. $2200 a month rent = 1 agents pay per month=1 less agent covering his ass per month.
where are all the weirdos who screamed about cheney and haliburton, and why are they silent now?
Trestin, thanks for the link!
j summ,
You asked the rhetorical question... the answer is simple - they don't care about integrity or ethics in politics, they care about R's vs. D's.
And while I certainly understand your point, I wouldn't want Biden protected by any less agents. What I simply can't understand is why "tax cuts for the rich" is such a big deal, yet here is a guy who, while not filthy rich, is being provided income by government and yet he is somehow allowed to make further income through government, on the backs of others paid by the government.
To me, this is one of the biggest WTF's we've seen in a long time. It may be smaller in overall dollars, but it's scandalous appearance is beyond the pale.
