California's "Dirty Little Secret" Regarding Illegal Immigration

California has a dirty little secret it does not want you to know about, and it is very closely related to Arizona S. B. 1070, known as "The Arizona Immigration Law."

It seems California already has on its books a law that covers how enforcement officials are to handle illegal aliens, and it looks a lot like that "racist" law Arizona is soon to enact.

From California Penal Code, Section 834b:

834b. (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully
cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization
Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is
suspected of being present in the United States in violation of
federal immigration laws.
(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected
of being present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the
following:
(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen
of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent
resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time
or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of
immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not
be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding
documentation to indicate his or her legal status.
(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien
who is present in the United States in violation of federal
immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal
justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or
leave the United States.
(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United
States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal
status and provide any additional information that may be requested
by any other public entity.
(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city,
county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with
jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent
or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly
prohibited.

And from the "racist" Arizona law, S. B. 1070:

ARTICLE 8. ENFORCEMENT OF IMMIGRATION LAWS

11-1051. Cooperation and assistance in enforcement of immigration laws; indemnification

A. NO OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE MAY ADOPT A POLICY THAT LIMITS OR RESTRICTS THE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS TO LESS THAN THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY FEDERAL LAW.

B. FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c).

C. IF AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES IS CONVICTED OF A VIOLATION OF STATE OR LOCAL LAW, ON DISCHARGE FROM IMPRISONMENT OR ASSESSMENT OF ANY FINE THAT IS IMPOSED, THE ALIEN SHALL BE TRANSFERRED IMMEDIATELY TO THE CUSTODY OF THE UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT OR THE UNITED STATES CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION.

D. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY MAY SECURELY TRANSPORT AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES AND WHO IS IN THE AGENCY'S CUSTODY TO A FEDERAL FACILITY IN THIS STATE OR TO ANY OTHER POINT OF TRANSFER INTO FEDERAL CUSTODY THAT IS OUTSIDE THE JURISDICTION OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.

It seems if we examine the California Penal Code closely, we find that many California cities, including specifically San Fransisco and Los Angeles, are in violation of both Federal and State law as they behave as "Sanctuary Cities."

Additionally, in demanding fiscal boycotts of another State within The Union, these California cities are in violation of The Constitution, as it is the duty of the Federal Government to regulate Interstate Commerce, as per Article 1, Section 8.

I would argue that if the Mayor of San Fransisco and the City Council of Los Angeles wish to boycott Arizona due to S. B. 1070, they might first consider a boycott of their own state.

And here's a thought for all the legislators in California who wish to boycott Arizona:

Arizonans pump millions of dollars into the California economy. Every summer when temperatures rise in the desert, Phoenicians and other Arizonans head west to Sea World, Disneyland, the beaches, and other California attractions. However, given the current political climate, many Arizonans are already planning trips within Arizona or to other vacation destinations.

In light of the embarrassing statements made by Attorney General Holder and President Barack Hussein Obama, perhaps it would be wise that everyone on the "pro-illegal" side of the discussion take a step back, make an effort to read the law, and reconsider their position.

Phoenix Suns Advance to Western Conference Finals

Alright... all of the "Los Suns" crap aside, I'm pretty darned happy basketball fan tonight.

The Phoenix Suns swept their nemesis, The San Antonio Spurs, in four straight games tonight. This is a monumental achievement for The Suns, who had lost to The Spurs in their four most recent meetings with The Spurs, including the 2004-05 Western Conference Finals.

These are two different teams than we've seen in the past, as all of the players mentioned during their post-game interviews. The Suns have a new coach and a different system than the "Seven Seconds or Less" that made them an icon of the past decade, a fan favorite around the league, and a guaranteed early exit from the postseason.

This version of The Suns in a hard-nosed, grind-it-out team that has learned the fundamentals of the game. They have learned to play half-court offense effectively by spreading the floor and moving the ball well.

Suns Coach Alvin Gentry was an assistant under former coach Mike D'Antoni, who left for New York and The Knicks following the 2007-08 season. Gentry took over when Terry Porter was fired midway through the 2008-09 season. In addition to being an assistant coach under such recognizable names as Larry Brown and San Antonio's Greg Popovich, Gentry has also led The Miami Heat, The Detroit Pistons, and the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Suns have possibly the best pick-and-roll combination in the league with Steve Nash and Amaré Stoudemire. The tandem has recently been compared to John Stockton and Karl Malone, who are often considered the best pick-and-roll combo in league history.

In addition to being one of the best ever running that play, Nash is a two-time MVP, and at 36 years old is playing some of the best basketball of his career. He has the longest running streak (112) of playoff game appearances without making it to the finals, which is both a daunting statistic and a testament to his greatness. Nash is also a seven-time all-star and one of the best free-throw and three-point shooters in NBA history.

Stoudemire was on the trading block around the time of the All-Star game this year. However, once the trade deadline passed and it became obvious that he would remain a Sun, Amaré elevated his game to a new level. He is now a force to be reckoned with in the lane, and has developed great accuracy from 15-18 feet.

A great threat from three-point range or to drive the lane, Jason Richardson is coming into his own since arriving in Phoenix midway through the 2008-09 season. A former slam-dunk contest champion, Richardson is a barometer of sorts for the team. When Richardson scores over 20 points in a game, The Suns are undefeated in the playoffs.

And then there's revitalized legend Grant Hill. Hill has become a huge part of The Suns success. He has the ability to play nearly any position on the floor, has incredible intelligence on the court, and accepts whatever role the coaching staff asks of him. He has been a starter and a bench player since coming to Phoenix and never complained. Hill came out of Duke University with incredible expectations, but his career has been riddled by injuries. However, since arriving in Phoenix Hill has advanced out of the first round of the playoffs for the first time in his career, has played in nearly every game without injury, and now is playing in the Conference finals with a chance to go to the NBA finals.

Plus, one of their starters, second year player Robin Lopez, has not played throughout the playoffs. The Suns are hopeful that he might return for the next series.

Additionally they have built a very effective bench. Second year point guard Goran Dragic had a bit of a coming out party on Friday night, scoring 23 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter and effectively dismantling The Spurs by himself. He has shown incredible learning capacity, and appears to be growing into The Suns point guard of the future.

Chris Dudley came to the team as a "throw-in" player in a trade last year that brought the known Jason Richardson to the team, but Number 3 has become a standout in his own right, bringing great defense and deadly accuracy from three point range.

Lou Amundson is a fan-favorite in Phoenix, bringing great defensive end rebounding energy to the floor. Chants of "Lou" ring throughout America West Arena when Amundson blocks one of his opponents shots or makes one of his trademark two-handed dunks.

Former Arizona Wildcat Channing Frye has the height to play the inside game, but has also shown the ability to stretch the defense with his excellent shooting, especially from outside the tree-point arc.

The Suns do not yet know who they will play in the Western Conference Finals. All indicators point toward the Los Angeles Lakers defeating The Utah Jazz, since the Lakers are up in that series 3 games to none.

The Lakers won the season series against The Suns 3-1, while The Suns and Jazz split their season series at two games each. If the Lakers win the series against The Jazz, they will have home court against The Suns, but if by some chance The Jazz came back to win that series, The Suns would have home court.

One final thought... The Suns had the best winning percentage in the Western Conference in the second half of the year (.793) going 23-6 since the all-star break. Either competitor will be a difficult match-up, and The Lakers are the defending NBA Champions.

Regardless, it is good to see The Spurs "go fishing" at the expense of my hometown team.

Happy Mother's Day

To My Mom, and to all Moms...

Have a wonderful day!

La Raza Message and a Call to Revolution From UCLA Professor

This is what happens when our tax dollars are not used to teach American values at our Universities.

According to the YouTube information, this video was recorded at UCLA, and the man speaking is a UCLA professor.

Anyone from the left who wonders what we Tea Party / 9.12'ers mean when we say we want to "take our country back?" Here you have it.

It's not the color of this man's skin - it's the content of his message. This man is preaching the message of La Raza, the same group that has tried to indoctrinate elementary school students at Tucson public schools. La Raza, as seen on its website, is much like CAIR. It fronts itself as a helpful organization that wants to provide advocacy for civil rights, but the real message being put forth from this group is pure hate.

This man is asking for people to begin a revolution against the United States of America, and he is collecting a paycheck made up of tax dollars collected from responsible, hard working, freedom loving California citizens.

This anti-American message is being funded by Americans against their will. This is unacceptable.

There will be blood in the streets if this man gets his wish, and that is purely unacceptable.

President Obama, No One in Arizona is Laughing: A Jan Brewer YouTube Commercial

Facts win over hyperbole every time. Way to go, Governor Brewer.

Update: In addition to this same video, Just A Conservative Girl has links to two letters written by Governor Brewer to high ranking federal government officials. One was written to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on March 11, 2009 and the other to President Barack Hussein Obama on April 6, 2010.

ASU Students Pose as Police Officers Asking about Immigration Status

From MyFoxPhoenix.com:

Tempe, AZ -

Police say two Arizona State University students posed as Tempe police officers and targeted their fellow classmates -- asking for their immigration status.

It happened overnight Friday.

Police say that 20-year-old Ryan Alarie and 23-year-old Alexander Devito were hanging around outside the Palo Verde main dorm and asking other students to show their IDs to prove citizenship.

They allegedly claimed to be undercover cops with the Tempe Police.

"They weren't trying to get money or anything like that -- right now it appears like it was just a prank that kind of spiraled out of control -- I don't think they intended for it to get as serious as it turned out to be," said Commander Jim Hardina.

Police say both men admitted to what they were doing, and drinking beforehand. Both Alarie and Devito are facing felony charges of impersonating a police officer.

I hope these idiots are charged to the fullest extent of the law. I don't care what side of the issue they are on in their personal beliefs. Impersonating an officer is a crime and is stupid, and ridiculous acts of intimidation such as this are going to do more harm than good.

My Thoughs About Live Oak High School, Cinco de Mayo, and The American Flag

As you may know by now, students at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California were sent home from school for wearing clothing decorated with the American Flag, as well as red, white and blue colored clothing. They did so on Cinco de Mayo, which has offended some Hispanics and caused yet another firestorm of debate over immigration and the place of Hispanics in America.

The disciplined students (those wearing the American flag) said that they were simply attempting to show their patriotism.

Some Hispanic students, including one named Annicia Nunez, had different opinions.

When asked, Miss Nunez said this about the issue:

"I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day. We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."

Since that time, about 200 Hispanic teens are reported to have marched to the school district headquarters just north of Tennant Avenue in Morgan Hill. When they arrived, they were told to leave. The students say they want people to know that they are proud of their heritage and they believe wearing red, white and blue on Cinco de Mayo is disrespectful.

"We did this to support the Latino-Hispanic community," said Francine Roa, who graduated from Live Oak in 2005. She brought her 2-year-old son, Elias Martinez, on the march.

I have something to say to the students who are complaining about the red, white and blue clothing, as well as to everyone who marched in Morgan Hill in protest of these students and their desire to display American patriotism.

Shut the hell up.

If you don't like people wearing red, white, and blue clothing, or clothing with the American flag on it, regardless of what day it is, you live in the wrong nation.

This is America, and you need to respect America first.

I get it that you are of Mexican descent. Fine. I understand you have pride in your heritage. Fine. Wear your red, white, and green, and be proud. More power to you. Be proud of the land from which your ancestors came. That's very important. On May 5th I'll gladly drink a Dos Equis in your honor, and if you're old enough I'd be honored to drink one with you as you celebrate Cinco de Mayo and your heritage.

But if you are American, there should be nothing more important to you than being exactly that - American.

Your family came here for a reason - to give you a better opportunity.

Your family came here so that you would have the right to wear red, white, and green in the land of red, white, and blue and not be persecuted for it.

In some nations you would be jailed, tortured, or possibly killed for speaking out against the nation in which you live.

Yet here in America you have the right to wear whatever you'd like, say whatever you'd like about our government (short of threatening leadership or planning a coup), and act in whatever way you feel is appropriate as long as you are not breaking the law.

And if you are not American (and therefore you are an illegal alien), but have been blessed to make it to America alive and are enjoying the fruits of this blessed land, then you - even more than your American friends of Hispanic descent - need to sit down, shut up, and be grateful for the blessings you have today.

America is an incredibly kind and giving nation, as you should know very well by now. The American government could (and has every legal right to) round you up like cattle and herd you back across the border, build a gigantic wall, and not given a moment's thought about whether you live or die.

But that's not who we are. We are the land of immigrants, the greatest political and social experiment in the history of mankind.

Because we are exactly that - the greatest nation on Earth - we will, in due time and after proper process, find a way to absorb the majority of you into our family and accept you as Americans.

You will then be entitled to equal justice, which in the big scheme of things is one of the greatest blessings... ever.

In the mean time, however, please understand that it is America, her people, and her traditions that deserve your respect.

So please... whether you are American or immigrant - put on some red, white, and blue, pledge allegiance to the most beautiful flag in the world, and be grateful for all that you have.

Turrble Charles Barkley, and Rachel Maddow on "The Right Side" of The Debate over AZ SB 1070

In case you missed last night's pre-game show on TNT before the game between THE Phoenix Suns and THE San Antonio Spurs, this clip from Rachel Maddow's show offers a segment of Charles Barkley at his most turrble.

J.D. Hayworth and John McCain have nothing to do with Arizona's new law, but don't tell Barkley that, he's got his taco-box full of stupidity in this segment. And sure Jan Brewer is the "interim" governor, but only because Barack Hussein Obama took the last guy we had... er... our previous governor, Janet "Crappy Nappy" Napolitano and made her Secretary of "Man Caused Disasters" and "Overseas Contingencies."

And yes... the Hispanic community is indeed the fabric of the cloth, Chuck. Glad you got that one out there.

That statement, followed by his, "This is a federal... President Obama... We've got to do something!" rant just makes for great television. I'm so glad I got to see this one again!

I felt sorry for Ernie Johnson, who is the host of the show and obviously tried desperately to bring Chuck back to the table, just to then have Chris Webber (far left) spout his ridiculous Public Enemy reference. C-Web, I need to tell you; Civil Rights and Dr. King are not at all the same as a state going broke and people being shot on their own property. I'm just sayin'.

Anyway - After that fun Rachel Maddow babbles for a while about how wonderful Barack Hussein Obama is, and offers a completely one-sided perspective of the immigration debate.

But what brought my attention to this segment was her 'tease' leading into a different commercial break.

Maddow said something along the lines of;

'If you're going to enter a debate, you might as well be on the right side of the debate.'

In an effort to be sure which side of the debate is "The right side," I went to AZCentral.com, and found a poll which asks the question:

Do you agree with the decision for Suns players to wear "Los Suns" jerseys at Wednesday's game to protest the new immigration law?"

The answer to that question can be seen here, in the bottom right corner of the picture:

SEIU Arizona, moveon.org, and Saul Alinsky: A Huffington Post Experience

Tonight I was reading an article on Huffington Post about how SEIU plans to boycott Arizona.

I first thanked God for this wonderful blessing, then kept reading...

In the discussion, someone mentioned their wish for California to act in similar fashion to Arizona, saying;

SEIU boycott??? That sounds good to me. Hopefully, California will adopt the same policies soon. Whatever it takes to rid the state of these thugs."

To which a leftist replied;

Rid the states of the majority of people?

Well, that certainly intrigued me. Exactly how many people are members of America's number one thug organization, I wondered?

According to their website, SEIU employs 2.2 million people across The United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Ah, yes.. a majority.

Anyway, I decided to look specifically into SEIU in Arizona.

Being a 'Right to Work' state, we do not have a large union presence. Only certain industries seem to accommodate the thugs people who wish to beat down organize employees, and although they are not a large presence here, government workers and the service industry seems to be threatened intimidated willing to cooperate.

So I found SEIU Arizona, which was also the first time I noticed that SEIU uses .org web presence. I don't know everything, but I thought there were at least some sort of ethical reasons to use... oh, never mind.

So SEIU Arizona has a Facebook page... oh, goody! I went to that page, and found all kinds of interesting hate for our new law, as well as a link to some website called CNNBC, which hosted this incredibly ridiculous video produced by our good friends at moveon.org:

Now honestly, I'm beginning to really enjoy the parody videos of the right, and specifically the ones made about Glenn Beck.

I suppose I've come to enjoy them most because they display with such great effect that whatever the left can not discredit, they will attempt to marginalize with mockery, as any good Alinskyite should.

I also enjoy these videos and other attempts at mockery because I have learned that if that's the best they've got... well, it's going to be a great November.

An Open Letter to The NBA

This is a copy of a letter I sent to The NBA tonight, regarding the "Los Suns" jerseys and the statements made by Suns players and management. I wrote this letter while the pre-game show was airing on TNT, and was absolutely appalled by their uneducated rhetoric.

While I understand that team owners, management, and players may have opinions, it might be a prudent business decision for the NBA and its teams to distance themselves from politically sensitive issues.

In particular I am writing about The Phoenix Suns recent decision to wear their "Los Suns" jerseys. If done only in honor of 'Cinco de Mayo' this would be fine, but all levels of the team from owner Robert Sarver to players on the court have been outspoken in interviews.

The NBA might be well served to remember that polling shows around seventy percent of Arizonans, as well as more than fifty percent of Americans nationwide, support Arizona S.B. 1070.

Furthermore, when in an interview Grant Hill says, "There's certain things I don't like about it, the little I know of it," the truth is revealed to be that these players are not politicians and in all likelihood have not read the bill, therefore do not know or understand that of which they speak.

Please remember it was NBA superstar Michael Jordan who said, "Republicans buy shoes too." He had the intelligence and insight to understand that if he wished for his business to succeed and his income to grow, perhaps he should keep his politics to himself.

One final note - I just watched the pre-game on TNT, and I would like to tell you that everyone on that staff has little to no understanding of the facts of the law. They are guilty of spreading misinformation, which is worse than not saying anything at all.

Thank you for your time and attention to this letter.

Sincerely,

Soloman
Phoenix, AZ

The letter was inspired by the discussion going on at Z's blog. She may be a Lakers fan, but she's alright by me...

If any of you would like to contact the NBA, feel free to do so here.

Tonight's "Big Number"

Saw this tonight on Hardball with Chris Matthews:

Matthews states that the reason for more Blacks running for Congress this season is due to "dissatisfaction with the Obama administration" coupled with the idea that they (Blacks) can win these elections, as proven by the victory of President Obama."

I think the truth lies somewhere in between, or perhaps it is a combination of the two reasons. Of course it's politics and Matthews is a talking head, so they're going to over-analyze the reasons why... that's fine.

I just have one thought on the subject. I hope like hell that any Black person elected to Congress by the Republican Party, or any Democrat with a shred of dignity from this point forward, refuses to join the Congressional Black Caucus. That would be one incredible statement, and "change" that I could definitely believe in!!

Los Suns: Phoenix Suns Owner Robert Sarver Not The Brightest

Those of you who read Drudge Report, ESPN, or those who follow sports may by now be aware that the NBA basketball team (and my hometown team) The Phoenix Suns are planning to wear jerseys tonight that read "Los Suns."

In my opinion, this is a rather... well, let's just say it's a "misguided" move (to quote Barack Hussein Obama) by Suns owner Robert Sarver and his staff, but ultimately it is much ado about nothing.

The Suns have worn these uniforms in the past on many occasions. I do not know if there has been a specific reason in the past for the team donning the different jerseys. This time around there certainly is reason, as well as an occasion.

The "occasion," according to team management, is Cinco de Mayo.

Obviously, however, the reason that is grabbing headlines is Arizona S.B. 1070, known as "The Arizona Immigration Law" in more respectful circles. Suns owner Robert Sarver, General Manager Steve Kerr, and a few players have voiced personal opposition to the law, as seen in this video:

Most notable of all the comments in the video is that of Grant Hill, a man whose work ethic and basketball skill I greatly respect, but whose politics fall a bit short. Said Hill when asked:

"We're not politicians, we're athletes, and obviously we want to be focused on the series. We don't want anything to become a distraction.

"There's certain things I don't like about it, the little I know of it..."

Within Mr. Hill's statement comes everything we need to know about the team wearing these "Los Suns" jerseys tonight.

First, he acknowledges that the players are exactly that - basketball players. When I turn on a sporting event, I do not enjoy being bombarded with politics. I get enough politics in my life - by choice - and sports is one of my escapes from that arena.

Next, there's the distraction issue. I guarantee you that if The Suns lose tonight, the 70 percent or more of us who are Suns fans and who support S.B. 1070 will place blame at the feet of Suns owner Robert Sarver, and rightfully so. The team has been inundated with questions about the issue since Sarver decided to interject himself into an issue in which he has no business.

Finally, there's Mr. Hill's honesty as he says he knows little about the law. Again - people who do not understand or have full knowledge about this issue are doing more damage to the situation. Bill O'Reilly did an excellent Talking Points about this issue on Monday Night.

So I will be watching, and I will be cheering, because they are The Suns and they are my team. I am extremely disappointed in the team's management for its decision, but so be it.

And if they lose, I'll be the first one to blame the loss on the uniforms. You Betcha.

For another take on the subject check out Wisdom of Dave, and there's more discussion at Memeorandum.
