Glenn Beck Interviewed By Katie Cupcake

Yes, I know it's sexist and dismissive of me to call her that, so feel free to yell at me. I'm still going to call her Katie Cupcake, because I believe it fits her.

Anyway - here's Glenn's online interview with Ms. Couric, for those who didn't get a chance to see it (like me) or those who didn't even know about it.

**UPDATE**

I watched this interview in full. It was fair, generally speaking. You can read very clearly into the ideological differences between the two, and to be honest I believe you get a sense at the end of the interview that Couric has a new-found respect for Beck.

Beck did not allow Couric to play 'gotcha' as she attempted. He offered his website as a place to gather information. If you didn't hear his radio show the day after the "Obama's a racist" comment, go here to listen, just click on the 'free audio' button and it will open in media player. It's about 16 minutes and very informative.

Also, here's a very interesting video clip from around the same time frame.

A Trip To Lefty-land

What an interesting time I have had this evening, and I wish to share this experience with all of my friends. I hope that in turn you will spread the word, for people need to know what I've just experienced.

I have only the proof of screen shots with the clock in the corner as a time-stamp. Those who attempt to defend these images will say that I have manipulated them somehow, but each image is also stamped with a marker on it as well.

The moral to the story is this - I went to the lefty site Huffington Post tonight, just to chat it up for a bit over there. They're all over the fact that Glenn Beck was on a videocast with Katie Cupcake, plus I guess Mark Levin is now their new hero because Mark said he doesn't understand some of what Glenn said on Katie's grab for ratings.

Anyway, the discussion turned to racism, as it always seems to with these folks. The very first comment I saw was by someone called amandla who said:

"I'm sorry, but I think that 90-95% of the people attending the "9/12" marches are PROUD racists, with the other 5-10% being racists in denial. People like Beck will openly express their belief in the inferiority of non-white people, yet they for some reason think their bias is hidden and undetectable by others (?). Code words are easily deciphered by even the most politically unsophisticated person, thus racists in denial (Beck) must apparently believe non-whites are so stupid that they can't understand what is being said.

The 2009 Republican Party has truly become the refuge of far-right whites who can't shake the feeling that they've necessarily lost something with the election of a Black man to the presidency. I'm hoping their hopes of secession from the US come to fruition - there's a lot of living space out in the wilderness of Alaska, Montana, and Idaho..."

Well, I couldn't just sit quietly, so I replied -

"I'm sorry, but I am one of those people who attended such an event, and I will tell you with great clarity and certainty that you are absolutely incorrect.

We are good people, just as you are good people, and for you to continue to label us as r@cists is only setting your cause back. You are coming across as arrogant, snide, and dismissive - while all we wish is to have a civil discussion.

There was disagreement to exactly this same level in '93 when Clinton tried to pass HillaryCare. It didn't rise to the same levels of display, such as the rallies you see today - but that is because we on the right are just as upset about some things we saw from the past 8 years, then we got told "change" and we see more of the same - an out of control spending agenda, cronyism, and a disturbing arrogance from the WH toward dissent.

The republican party is lost - about that you are correct - but Conservatism is alive and well, and is growing more strong each and every day people like you speak in such a condescending manner about your fellow Americans."

The discussion continued. I have a bunch of the back and forth comments saved, but what is now much more interesting is the fact that at some point, the moderators began to pull my comments upon the next refresh.

Luckily, I was ready for this, because I've been seeing this a lot lately. Any time a discussion turns against the leftist, the moderators delete the comment of the Conservative - or at least they've done it to me.

So in order, I offer you a timeline of my comments being added, then deleted. My screenname is 'solopico' there, and you'll even notice at one point I told the moderators I was screen grabbing. Didn't seem to matter.

Click on each picture to enlarge it, and notice the clock in each picture.

So - make of it what you will... but I believe there's a big lesson learned from all of this, which is that quite simply this is extreme proof that in the battlefield of truth and ideas, Conservatism is winning - big time.

9/12 Protest Count - Accuracy Counts

Huge hat tip to Left Coast Rebel, as he's the first I saw with this posted. Well done, sir.

Here's a well explained breakdown of the numbers in attendance at a number of Washington, D. C. events, including the 9/12 Protest of 2009.

Zac Moilanen at Indiana University has concluded an approximate 1,782,760 attendees.

And we've only just begun.

Mr. President, Thou Dost Protest Too Much

President Obama said he didn't know about the seemingly anti-American rantings of his former pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. The President had attended Wright's church for nearly twenty years, averaging (by his own admission) one visit every other week - an approximate 520 visits across that period of time. He and his wife Michelle were married by Wright, and both of their daughters were Baptized by the Reverend. Yet President Obama claims he never heard such statements made by Wright.

President Obama said he didn't know about the shady financial dealings of Antoin "Tony" Rezko, the political fundraiser, restaurateur, and real estate developer from Chicago who arranged a "special" deal for the Obama family, so that they might by part of the plot of land they own in Hyde Park for just pennies on the dollar.

President Obama said he didn't know about William Ayers' history in The Weather Underground, a 1960's group found guilty on more than one occasion of domestic terrorism. Granted, Ayers himself was never found guilty (although his wife Bernadine Dohrn was), but he was at one time quoted "Guilty as Hell, Free as a Bird - America is a great country."

President Obama said he didn't know about the radical statements made by Rashid Khalidi, former Press Director for the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

So when President Obama said on Sunday in an interview with George Stephanopoulos that the ACORN story, including the votes in both the House and Senate to cut off funding, was something he's not really followed closely... and the fact that he claims he was not even aware that ACORN is getting "a whole lot of Federal money" - should we believe him?

Bailouts For Birdcage Liners?

According to Michael O'Brien at The Hill, President Barack Hussein Obama said he is "happy to look at" bills before Congress that would give struggling news organizations tax breaks if they were to restructure as nonprofit businesses.

"I haven't seen detailed proposals yet, but I'll be happy to look at them," Obama told the editors of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Toledo Blade in an interview.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) has introduced S. 673, the so-called "Newspaper Revitalization Act," that would give outlets tax deals if they were to restructure as 501(c)(3) corporations. That bill has so far attracted one cosponsor, Cardin's Maryland colleague Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D).

I did a little research into 501(c)(3) requirements. According to www.irs.gov, a 501(c)(3) "must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates."

Now I'm no legal beagle, so maybe someone can tell me where I'm wrong. The way I understand those words, newspapers will not be legally permitted to influence legislation. They will not be legally allowed to endorse any specific political candidate (as this would be "participation in a campaign activity for or against political candidates).

Additionally, there is this paragraph: "Section 501(c)(3) organizations are restricted in how much political and legislative (lobbying) activities they may conduct. For a detailed discussion, see Political and Lobbying Activities. For more information about lobbying activities by charities, see the article Lobbying Issues; for more information about political activities of charities, see the FY-2002 CPE topic Election Year Issues.

I may be completely misunderstanding what I am reading, and I welcome anyone who understands tax law to correct me if I am wrong. Otherwise - I say bring it on! For the first time in American history, print media might be held to a high standard and remain neutral in political debate.

Is New Zealand Racist?

Well, you certainly will not find this headline on any newspaper in The United States, nor will you find such an honest story on NBC or the other networks, Fox News Channel notwithstanding.

New Zealand's TVNZ offers on its website the headline "Obama-linked Acorn in major US scandal," which is followed by an honest assessment of the recent events surrounding the scandalous community organizing group, as well as its ties to the 44th President, Barack Hussein Obama.

From the article: "Acorn was also a major supporter of Obama's campaign to become president, even though it is a non-profit non-partisan government organisation that receives over $70 million in taxpayer money."

Also, the last sentence of the article from NZTV says: "As Obama starts a media blitz to push his government-run healthcare plans, the Acorn scandal has cast doubt on the government's ability to run anything."

If only... nah, never mind. They're in the tank, and they're not coming out.

H/T to Don Surber. You've got to read his piece, if for no other reason his last sentence. It's priceless.

One For The Aged

As we begin (in my opinion) the best ten weeks in sports outside of Super Bowl Sunday, history today was made in Louden, New Hampshire. Fifty year old Mark Martin, driving the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, won his first ever race at Louden Motor Speedway, and in doing so became the oldest driver to win a race in the "Chase For The Sprint Cup," a playoff-style change to NASCAR that began in 2004.

Mark Martin began driving in NASCAR in 1981. In 1982 he finished 2nd in "Rookie of the Year" standings. However, it was not until 1989 that Martin won his first race, at thew North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham. He has finished second in the Cup Series standings a remarkable four times, earning him the title "Best Driver never to win a Championship." Additionally, Martin currently has more wins than any other driver in NASCAR's "junior" series, currently known as the Nationwide Series.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a fan of the #48 team, with driver Jimmie Johnson and Crew Chief Chad Knaus, which is also owned by Hendrick Motorsports and is the reigning and 3-time consecutive champion of NASCAR. However, Mark Martin is most definitely the sentimental favorite to win the championship, and any fan of almost any NASCAR driver would agree that if there is one driver besides their favorite whom they would love to see win, it is indeed Martin.
