Groupthink In Effect: Sheeple at "Occupy Atlanta" Silence Civil Rights Era Hero

This is some of the strangest behavior I have ever seen. This crowd consistently repeats - or parrots, if you will - every single thing said by whomever has the "floor."

I would not say I have a completely thorough understanding of Marxism, but this video definitely represents the most secular / collectivist mentality I have ever seen in America. The closest thing I can imagine as I watch this video is Jim Jones and his followers at Jonestown, or David Koresh and his followers at Waco.

From the YouTube description:

What we saw at the "revolution":

Many curious citizens and media outlets came to the first Occupy Atlanta event, and were visible shocked and confused by the consistent Marxism employed by the group. People abandoned their individuality and liberty to be absorbed into a hypnotizing collective. The facilitator made it clear that he was not a "leader" and that everyone was completely equal; words often spoken by leftists, but in this case they actually applied their philosophy. Into this surreal and oppressive environment, Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights hero and icon of American leftism, came to speak as has so often done at left-wing rallies and events in Atlanta. He is practically worshiped in Democrat circles, and was visibly stunned to see these Marxists turn him away. It was reminiscent of previous Marxist revolutions in history when those who ignorantly supported the revolutionaries are, over time, purged and rejected for the "good of the collective", when their usefulness has expired.

It's the "people's microphone" and John Lewis was cool with it. He was not on the agenda and he said this was the similar process to the civil rights movement.

Glenn,

More than Lewis, I worry for the naive people participating in this event. The way they parrot whatever the megaphone holder says shows they are not thinking for themselves.

Congressman Lewis is simply collateral damage, of sorts.

They need to understand that while certainly the banks did wrong, it is the government who set them up for all of this through the social engineering legislation called The Community Reinvestment Act. Then the government bailed out its own backside with TARP but left the average American to suffer.

If these people, likely mostly Obama voters, understood just how much Obama is in bed with Wall Street and how much he is part of the problem, they would be embarrassed for ever participating in this Soros-funded "protest" movement and would likely get involved with the Tea Party.

This is not too far from what happens when one of the so-called news channels (FOX, CNN, NBC, etc.) trumpets their political agenda only to have their legion of followers repeat that very same message to each and every person they know. America is in a very dangerous way right now. The left is sleeping at the wheel while the right is trying to force the entire country over a cliff. It's scary to imagine what's next!

Odie,

I don't know that they are stupid, per se. From what I understand many of these protesters are college educated.

they may, however, lack in common sense and critical thinking skills.

Anonymous,

I would say this is a far cry from the "so-called news channels" and the way their viewers spread the message being offered. Those messages can be fact-checked. Sure some may not do their homework, but many will.

What we witness in this video is not information being spread, it is more like sheep following a shepherd. These people are acting as if they literally would "drink the kool-aid" if instructed to do so.

To your other point:

I don't believe the Left is sleeping at the wheel, nor do I believe the Right is trying to drive America off a cliff.

The Left - not your average, middle-America Democrat, but the Leftist left - wants an America where there are workers, and then there are those who use the system.

The problem is that eventually enough of the workers catch on and stop working, because they don't appreciate being manipulated in such a way.

Since they do not provide "revenues" when they stop working, they eventually join the ranks of those who use the system. Once enough workers stop working and providing revenues, there is nothing left for the system to provide to those who are using the system. This begins the end of America..

Therefore, inadvertently - or perhaps at the highest levels with absolute intent - it is the left that is forcing America over the cliff.

Contrarily, the Right is trying to save America from its abusive political system. Yes there is corruption within the Republican Party, and yes there are those within the activist Right (Tea Party) who do not truly understand what the movement stands for and are seeking to use it for personal gain. But overall the message of the Right is that America must stop the constant expansion of its own centralized power structure, and must stop spending revenues on anything not specifically defined by The Constitution. America also must restructure the two prominent entitlement programs it currently has in place (Medicare and Social Security) and repeal “Obamacare,” and find more state and local solutions to the health care issues people deal with. Adding more bureaucracy to an already bloated nightmare like America's medical industry is a prescription for disaster.

A centralized government is not what allows individuals the liberties to pursue their dreams and turn those dreams into reality. Without those liberties America will cease to be the greatest nation known in the history of mankind.

This is truly scary. Some of the things that they are chanting are frightening.

Having sex with animals is ok? Heaven help us if they are the 99% of this country.
