Twenty Years: Just Words

These are quotes of The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, formerly of Trinity United Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois.

These quotes are from a five day seminar advertised as focusing on politics and public policy in South Africa and America given between January 21-25, 2010 in Chicago.

"White folk done took this country," Wright said. "You're in their home, and they're gonna let you know it."

"You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk," he said. "And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble."

"Bill [Jones, author of the book "Is God a White Racist?] said, 'They just killed four of their own at Kent State. They'll step on you like a cockroach and keep on movin', cause you not a brother to them.' "

The educational system in America is designed by whites to mis-educate blacks, "not by benign neglect but by malignant intent."

"It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do."

Ethiopian Jews "...are despised by white Jews": "And now the Knesset [Israeli parliament] is meeting with European Jews, voting on whether or not these African Jews can get into [Israel]."

"We probably have more African-Americans who've been brainwashed than we have South Africans who've been brainwashed."

Martin Luther King was, "...misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, 'born in the oven of America.'"

Twenty years. Twenty years of his adult life President Obama spent listening to the words of Jeremiah Wright, yet when asked about what he had heard Reverend Wright say during those years, the aspiring candidate said this:

"Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect."

Remember this speech by President Obama [The one that was essentially plagiarized from Deval Patric]??

“Don’t tell me that words don’t matter.

‘I have a dream.’

Just words.

‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’

Just words.

‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’

Just words.

That's right, people. Just words.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Just words.

Remember General Betray Us?

Before the politics: A personal note.

Thank you to all who have expressed concern for my well being, told me that I have been missed, and so on. I truly appreciate the kindness I have been shown by all of you.

I am fine. Actually, I am feeling great. Of course I have been keeping up on the news, but I've been so busy that I quite simply have not had the energy or the ability to focus enough to organize my thoughts into a post.

I made a commitment to myself some time back, and I have been true to that commitment. Over the past couple of months I have been exercising regularly, and to date have lost about 20 pounds. I feel great about the effort I made, and I am enjoying the physical changes as well. I've tightened up my belt a couple of notches, and have been wearing some t-shirts that I haven't worn in a few years.


So... now the politics:


The following letter was written into a comment form at Moveon.org after learning that they had scrubbed all records of their "General Betray Us" advertisements.

Subject: What happened to General Betray Us???

Message: What happened to your articles, videos, advertisements, etc. describing General David Patraeus as "General Betray Us?" I find it fascinating that you have removed all trace of your organization's own history of slandering this great patriot.

Funny how suddenly you want nothing to do with your own position and opinion about the man, now that the man is working for your ideological pawn, Barack Hussein Obama.

Thank you so very much for holding such a double standard regarding this situation, and exemplifying such amazing hypocrisy. You truly are everything I believed you to be - a hack partisan organization that only has conviction for America's best interests when it suits your political agenda, which means you have no conviction for America's best interests whatsoever.

To My Dad

I've learned more from you than I'll ever know.

You didn't even have to teach me. I just had to watch and listen.

You let me choose my own path. I didn't always take your advice, but that's okay. I know that even though you watched me make mistakes and it probably ate at you inside, you wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I now understand that you were allowing me to learn from my mistakes, which ultimately has made me a better, stronger person.

While my life has not brought fatherhood my way, should I ever become a parent I could only hope to be half the Dad that you are to me.

Today if I ever wonder what is the right thing to do, I ask myself, "What would Dad do in this situation?"

Thank you, Dad - for all that you have done, and for all that you continue to do. You are my role model, and for that I am eternally grateful.
