Believe it or not I was a Clinton liberal until the Lewinsky scandal embarrassed America. I supported George W. Bush and believe that he is a good man.

I will freely admit that I was not awake enough during the Bush administration to see everything that was going on, but I will also vehemently debate anyone who believes the talking points of "Bush lied about WMD." We had many of our Constitutional freedoms infringed upon by the Bush administration, with actions like TARP and the "Patriot Act."

I respect and appreciate that you raised four children, and while I am sorry you suffered through it, I am glad to hear you are a survivor of cancer.

Judi, I am not the most educated man you'll ever deal with. I went to a great high school that offered me a better than average education, and I have twelve college credits that have been sitting on a shelf for about ten years.

In the mean time, I believe it is my civic duty to educate myself as much as possible about the events that affect our nation, and pass information on to anyone who may wish to receive that information. While I attempt to offer as many facts as I can, I do not expect others to agree with me if I offer an opinion.

I am not at all about a "side" or proving any superiority. The only side I care about is the side that believes in freedom, and quite simply I do not believe that our current president and his team are on my side.

I admit that my viewpoint is more in line with the "right" side of politics but I do not trust any of them regardless of party affiliation, believe you me.

I have worked hard all of my adult life, and I sincerely believe that what's mine is mine, and the government should not have the right to tell me how to live. The concept is called individual sovereignty, and it is one of the bedrocks of our Constitutional Republic.

I'm sure you believe I'm a partisan hack - and I read that you believe I'm a racist. That's more of a statement about you than it will ever be about me.

Judi, your intellect was not insulted here. Perhaps your opinion was offended here, but at no time did I insult your intellect.

Unless, of course, you're back to calling me stupid.Solomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12934220245789538762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6965825415349936737.post-64178955950170796852010-02-17T20:32:34.701-07:002010-02-17T20:32:34.701-07:00Judi -

Why are you playing such the victim when - as Fuzzy Slippers mentioned, it was you who instigated me?

I offered my thoughts on a situation developing in the American political landscape, and you asked me, "Are you completely out of your mind?"

Granted, I called you "lady" a few times in my comment on your blog and I told you that you didn't have a clue what you were talking about, but again... you called me a "stupid, stupid person."

How else would you have me respond?

With all due respect, I am quite troubled by the fact that in one breath you can call me stupid, and in the next you can declare "Progressive, liberal, conservative, racist, socialist, marxist--it's all the same to me."

Judi, it's not all the same.

That you choose not to educate yourself about the differences does not make you any less intelligent than me. However, that you so casually dismiss those differences is something I find very troubling, especially when you choose to insult my efforts to bring ideas and information to the arena of debate.

I understand and respect that you believe Michelle Obama was trying to create a "good initiative," but I respectfully disagree.

Government can not legislate good health, and Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative involves legislation. We need less legislation and less spending, and this program only offers more of both.

Remember, we already have one Obama program that was designed to fight childhood obesity. As I point out in my other post on this subject, President Obama teamed with the NFL for a program called "Play60" which was (correctly) geared at encouraging children to participate in sixty minutes of physical activity each day.

Judi, I never once insulted your intelligence. I told you that you didn't have a clue what you were talking about, but that is a situational comment, not a general overview of your intelligence.

Again... You called me stupid, remember?

When I said that you presented a "lack of knowledge" I suppose I could have used different words. Perhaps "Lack of factual citation" would have been more appropriate, since what you did was essentially rattle off a lot of talking points without backing any of your statements with links to validate your claims.

My desire was not to "tell you" that you were wrong. My desire was to challenge you to be more honest and critical in your assessment of a person with whom you obviously take issue.

If you don't like Glenn Beck that's fine - as you said, you are entitled to your opinion, or your "take," as it were. But for you to spread untrue statements in an effort to discredit him is.. well, it's just dishonest.

I'd bet you'd even agree it's probably below your personal threshold, and you would certainly hold others to such a standard, true?Solomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12934220245789538762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6965825415349936737.post-89969438705633960262010-02-17T16:34:31.448-07:002010-02-17T16:34:31.448-07:00@ Judi, are kidding me? Trying to do some good, and this guy makes a mockery of it, as did Glenn Beck. And the picture in this blog was chosen for effect, also. Very tactless. I figured he'd just ignore me.

The extreme "right" is just as much as fault as the extreme "left" in any dialogue. The everyday people just get fed up with all of this. Thanks...I just today read your comments on my blog. Thanks for stopping bye: I'm sure it was intellectually inferior to yours.( Me being so engrossed in everyday life, and all.) Progressive, liberal, conservative, racist, socialist, marxist--it's all the same to me. Some people just feel much better being able to spout off "their side's superiority" to the other. Radical theory has never held any interest for me and politics has always been such a minor interest....until this year.

My college education (surprised?) wasn't political, it was fine arts. I'm more interested in finding the beauty in life and the good in everything. But boy, you certainly TOLD Me I was wrong! Everything in my life was for naught, I guess. Raising 4 kids instead of reading Alinsky or Progressive History or the Life of Margaret Sanger. (Yes, I know about her.)
Instead of going thru cancer with radiation and chemo twice, I guess I should've be railing about this socialist healthcare initiative being forced down our throats. (By the way, I paid over 25,000.00 on my own because of no insurance the 2nd time.) The reason some people are against HCR is because it does not contain the public option.

Yes, unfortunately, I still think your comments were stupid: stupid in that they are hateful and hurtful. Why does everything and everybody have to be an "agenda?" As I said before, the politics of this last election have everybody voicing, yelling, screaming their opinions as never before. I find it hard to believe that race has no part in this. (OH MY GOD, she said it!!! That liberal wench!!) Yes, I've watched Glenn beck: that's why I don't watch now.

In closing, I must comment that you obviously have NOT read my blog, other than that one. I was simply voicing my opinion and my take on things. As far as I can tell, I still have that right. I touch on all things: Alzheimers, religion (my views), Glen Beck (my views), kids, pictures, etc. I don't ask you to agree with me, and I don't expect everyone too. But I don't go out of my way to cause trouble or castigate a commenter's opinion in the way you have. I would have followed up sooner, but just today saw this. I don't feel that every good someone tries to do, whether in political context or not, needs to be trampled through the mud. But then, your obvious political acuity trumps mine.JUDI M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10371810363877424765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6965825415349936737.post-50957724244767897552010-02-14T14:53:54.048-07:002010-02-14T14:53:54.048-07:00Fuzzy -
I agree with you about the difference be...Fuzzy -

I agree with you about the difference between those who offer well written work and wish to engage in meaningful discussion and those who simply pop in and fling mud.

I believe I'm always one to be respectful, which is part of why I offered you the link to that one specific post at Judi's blog. I was fascinated by the lack of knowledge Judi presented. In this instance, anyway, she presented as a blogging version of what Rush calls the "Drive-by" - she didn't really know anything about her subject, she just worked from the talking points she gets from Olbermann, Maddow, Kos and HuffPo.

Shameful, really... so many Americans don't take the time to understand what America's founding really meant to the world and why it is so very important that we preserve individual sovereignty.

So I left her a comment... a little long (imagine that, me writing a lot?) but very clear on the facts. I might have been a little rough toward the end, but hell, I was told I'm stooooopid, I felt the need to defend myself.

Final thought - if you didn't see Beck's Friday show, you should. I linked part one of four.

He ties together the Meghan McCain / Veruca Salt issue, and how progressives are infiltrating our educational system. He talks about how kids are being told they are smarter than their parents, and that they should go home and try to re-educate them.

He also discusses how Marx was one of the first social scientists (therefore social engineer), how the first American sociology education department was at The University of Chicago (imagine that!) and Zeke Emanuel's "Complete Lives" curve that shows how the progressives see the value of human life.

Anyway, babble... hope you're having a happy Sunday! BTW - loved your Saturday post about the American Spirit. I'll probably be by later to leave you a note there...Solomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12934220245789538762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6965825415349936737.post-31693926118139608092010-02-14T03:58:22.966-07:002010-02-14T03:58:22.966-07:00lmao, gee, when you put all those libbie comments ...lmao, gee, when you put all those libbie comments together, the picture is rather . . . well, let's just say not very tolerant.

As to Judi, naw, I'll take a pass. I do read some liberal blogs, but they are thoughtful, well-written, and their owners would never dream of trolling conservative blogs with empty, mean-spirited "criticism."

And I do watch Beck, almost every day (though I missed yesterday and the day before). It's Limbaugh I don't listen to, even though I like him a lot. I just don't have much opportunity to listen to talk radio (no commute, no office, etc.). But Beck? He rocks.
